Boat: Boats of all kinds - from old freighters to luxury ferries - run between the islands in the South of Thailand.

Longtailboat: For shorter journeys between beaches or to the islands, charming longtail boats (long, narrow timber boats with large outboard motors) are the best option.

Songthaews: These serve as taxis in rural and island communities. As a small, open minivan with two rows of seats in the back.

Bus: Buses are, unsurprisingly, widespread across the country, with a variety different standards available, from basic to luxurious. Larger coaches with air conditioning are recommended for longer trips.

Plane: There are many domestic flights available to a range of destinations if you want to travel fast. Contact a local travel agent or book online directly with local carriers such as AirAsia, Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways.

Cash: You can convert major currencies to baht in Bangkok or Phuket.

Cards: There are plenty of ATMs at all major tourist destinations, so credit/debit cards are a very convenient way to carry your money. Be careful about using cards in shops and and restaurants, as fraud is not uncommon - keep your eyes open and make sure that all charges are correct. It is also a good idea to save your receipts until you get home in case of any issues.

Tipping: Tipping is not expected, except in high-end hotels and restaurants.

Local residents: If you want to save money, do as the Thai people do! Eat where they eat, buy locally produced soft drinks and ice - everything imported into the country is more expensive than the local equivalent.

There is a six-hour difference in time between Denmark and Thailand during Winter. You set the clock forward six hours, eg 12:00 to 18:00 when you travel to Thailand and back again, from eg. 24.00 to 18.00 when you travel home.

To minimize disruption of circadian rhythm, also known as 'jet lag', you can prepare before you depart. A week before the trip, you can start going to bed a few hours earlier than normal and get up a few hours earlier. When traveling from Thailand, do the opposite.

Thailand has no daylight saving, so during the European Sumer the time difference is only five hours. When it comes to dates and years, the differences are far greater. The Thai calendar is based on the year of Gautama Buddha's death (543BC) as year zero. This system is known as BE (Bhuddist Era). Based on this system, the year 2012(AD) becomes 2555(BE).

The easiest way to get from the airport to the EBS Centre is to take a taxi. Meter taxis are usually parked outside the airport or you can get a fixed price taxi from the counters in the arrival hall. Either option should cost a maximum of 650 baht (about 100 kr). Keep an eye out for other students that you can share with.

The course finishes on Thursday of week 4 if you have completed the program and exams without any problems. Friday is an extra day for re-exams etc., and students must check-out by midday on this day. If you want continue enjoying Thailand after the course you are welcome to stay on school for a nightly rate, provided space is available. For graduates the rate is apporx. 50 kr. per. night. This can be arranged with the school in Thailand when you are at the destination.

EBS strongly recommends that you take out personal travel insurance as your Danish ID card will not provide coverage. Any medical expenses or hospital visits will be your responsibilty - you will be charged directly unless you take out an insurance policy that covers medical expenses.

It is your own responsibility to obtain an appropriate travel insurance policy. EBS will not be able to assist if you have not purchased the right kind of insurace.

The correct type of insurance policy is: Education or Business Abroad insurance - regular travel insurance will not be adequate.

Hua Hin: Beachside resort towns Cha Am and Hua Hin are three-hour bus ride from Bangkok.

Koh Samet: Bangkok's nearest island, Koh Samet can be reached in just a few hours (2.5 hour bus ride and a 45 minute boat trip). The island is a national park and has a nice mix of whte sand beaches - some busy, some very quiet - and well preserved jungle.

Krabi: Krabi is a perfect starting point for beaches such as Ao Nang, Railay Bay, Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi. Ao Phra Nan near Railay Bay has been named the world's second most beautiful beach. Ko Lanta Island is a peaceful spot, popular with divers, and Ko Phi Phi (featured in the film 'The Beach) has a happening nightlife scene.

Koh Samui: Party, romance and spectacular scenery - this island has it all.

Koh Phangan: Party at night and chill out during the day. Try to catch the world famous Full Moon Party - but only if you enjoy a non-stop mega-event with thousands of people from around the world.

EBS offers a convenient and affordable food program, which includes a buffet breakfast and lunch with both Thai and European dishes, Monday to Friday for the entire course period. The total cost for the food program is 6000thb and you can sign up for the food program at the destination when the course starts.
