It seems like there’s always an awards ceremony going on somewhere in the world. From the very British BAFTAs, to the elegance of the Emmy’s and the glamour of the GQ man of the Year Awards.
If there’s one thing we enjoy about a celebrity bash, it’s knowing what our favourite A-listers (and let’s be honest, sometimes D-listers) get up to, get down with and most importantly – drink.
Inspired by Tom Hanks acting as a waiter at the Golden Globes, we’ve compiled our favourite insider tipples for the awards season of 2018.
Cast your mind back to the beginning of the year when everyone was talking about two things at the Golden Globes. The #MeToo movement and Tom Hanks delivering a trayload of martinis to his fellow actors!
But that wasn’t all the A-listers were spotted with this season. Hollywood’s glitterati were clearly on top form, with more than 7,500 glasses of bubbly enjoyed during the show. This included 1,500 mini Moët Impérial’s on the red carpet, 500 cocktails at the bar, and 125 cases of Moët & Chandon 2006 Grand Vintage Brut and Moët Imperial Rose Magnums on the tables.
The Sweet Sound of Music
In the same month, the biggest stars in music hit New York for the annual Grammy Awards.
Held at the Marriott Marquis in New York, the official afterparty menu paid homage to the cultural neighbourhoods in the area like Spanish Harlem and Chinatown.
Bringing a refreshing touch to celebrations, Absolut Vodka, the official drink of the party, featured a number of lime inspired cocktails, such as the Lime Vodkarita and Limelight for guests to enjoy.
A Very British Award
When the EE British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) returned in February, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri was the most talked about film of the night. Celebrities raised several toasts that night with a timeless glass of Tattinger, accompanying their lamb cutlet and slow cooked shoulder of lamb main.
When it came to celebrations, cocktails by Cointreau and Rémy Martin fueled the party-goers, along with a tamer Nespresso coffee to ensure they made it to the afterparty!
What the star-studded guestlist drank at the Grey Goose BAFTA Awards after-party at Soho House comes as no surprise - the clue is literally in the name. While Margot Robbie was spotted enjoying a champagne from a frosted champagne flute, up and coming actor Taron Egerton enjoyed ‘House Four’, the establishments craft beer introduced by Tom Kerr.
When Hollywood’s royalty sat down to a night of entertainment at The Oscars, they were mostly sipping on Piper-Heidsieck Champagne. Only the best for our A-listers, more than 12,000 flutes were quaffed.
Helen Mirren was one of the many guests spotted with a cheeky Sacré Sauvage on the red carpet! Concocted by Wolfgang Puck, the orange-spiked rose Champagne cocktail included triple sec, grapefruit zest, blueberries and ginger syrup, served in a tumbler glass over ice.
And what could be a better pairing for such an event, than Francis Ford Coppola’s wine supply, which featured a selection of Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and a red blend made with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc for esteemed guests.
Styling it Out
One of the most stylish awards in the calendar, The GQ Man of the Year Awards paid homage to the best dressed, most inspiring artists and sports and entertainment icons when it returned to London this September.
This year’s menu was designed by GQ foodie Paul Ainsworth and inspired by the fresh flavours of Cornwall. To compliment this, a selection of whisky cocktails were handed out to guests, courtesy of Haig Club.
Cocktails infused with the whiskey included Haig Clubman Boulevardier - featuring Rose Vermouth, Italian bitter aperitif and an orange twist, and the light and refreshing Haig Club X GQ Cooler with elderflower, Fever-Tree Ginger ale and fresh cucumber.
The drinks seem to have gone down well, if the photos of the A-list crowd are anything to go by!
