This whisky expedition doesn’t require any previous experience - just a love of whisky!
Live and breathe whisky production at the Glenfiddich distillery
See, touch, and taste your way through whisky making and leave with knowledge that you can’t gain on any other whisky tour. After seeing the entire process, you’ll taste whisky you’ve never tasted before and discover new ways to enjoy it through expert tasting sessions.
Your exclusive whisky trip allows you to speak with Glenfiddich’s experienced whisky experts. They’ll provide you with invaluable, first-hand insights in to the world of whisky and share their passion for the profession with you.
Throughout your tour of the Glenfiddich distillery you’ll be able to get hands-on and try a few of the new techniques you’ve learned. You’ll experience distilling, malt your own grain, help to build a cask, blend and take away a sample bottle, and much more.
We have teamed up with William Grant and Sons to bring you a truly unique and tailored whisky experience. This exclusive whisky tour allows you to access areas far outside of the public domain. You’ll smell and taste your way through the entire whisky-making process as Glenfiddich harvest, malt, mash, ferment, distill, and age their whisky on site.
Course Content Overview
Participants of this exclusive whisky trip will stay in private rooms in cottages on site at the distillery. Staying at the distillery means that you’ll be immersed in whisky production from morning till night. Some meals will be provided by the distillery’s talented chefs and all of the cottages have fully-equipped kitchens.
You’ll be surrounded by barley fields, and depending on the season, you could see the main ingredient at the sowing, growing or harvesting stage. Get the chance to malt your own grain and see the germination process transform starch into sugar. Understand how to calculate yields, test friability, measure gravity, and check the viability of yeast.
Go behind the scenes at a working distillery that has 31 copper pot stills. You’ll distil your own small batch, check the copper for cracks, measure remaining copper thickness, and sip raw spirit straight from the still.
Tour different types of warehouses, see the unique Solera vat at warehouse no.8 and taste whisky straight from the cask. The site also boasts its own cooperage so you can try your hand at cask building under the guidance of master coopers. Learn why wood has such a big impact on the final flavour of whisky and why producers take it very seriously.
Develop your palate with expert whisky tasters in exclusive tasting sessions and blend your own whisky with help from the pros. Whether you’re a lifelong whisky fan or you’re just starting out, identifying characteristics and expanding your flavour vocabulary is key to improving how you enjoy and understand whisky.
