What you will learn
We give you the tools, techniques, and repetition needed to become a great bartender. As they say, “Practice makes perfect.” At EBS, you’ll spend most of your time behind our state-of-the-art bar stations making drinks in an authentic bar environment. We have music playing and constant orders flowing to prepare you for a career in hospitality. The training includes:
- Drink mixing
- Tasting sessions
- Working, craft and exhibition flair
- Free pour
It’s important to know the basics first, so we’ll start by teaching you the fundamentals of creating the perfect cocktail. You’ll learn how to make more than 65 international cocktails from Mojitos and Mai Tais to Bloody Marys and even Espresso martinis. Then, we’ll teach you the elements to designing your own unique cocktails during our mixology workshops. Last, we’ll put them to the test in a lively cocktail competition. You’ll be tested on different cocktails each day, and there are plenty of opportunities to practice—and taste!—your creations.
In any profession, mastering the techniques and equipment needed to be successful isn’t always the most interesting part of the process. But in our course, you’ll have fun learning the fundamentals of bartending like: building, stirring, shaking, straining, rolling, layering and muddling. You’ll also become familiar with bar equipment including what glasses to use, different types of ice, shakers, strainers and more.
Impress your customers with spirit knowledge on the best (and worst!) vodka, gin, rum, tequila and whisky, to name just a few. You’ll learn about the different spirits and liqueurs from their history to production and flavouring techniques. It’s all part of the process to make you a well-rounded bartender, and in turn, make you more money.
Being a bartender is more than just mixing drinks. It requires a diverse skill set that includes social skills, technical expertise, multitasking and the ability to do all of it under pressure. We’ll give you a clear picture of the role of the bartender, what to expect on busy nights, and how you can stand out on a trial shift. That’s right. You may get one shot at the job!
