Perks of being an EBS instructor
Course overview
What’s the recipe for an EBS instructor? Adapting to students’ learning speeds, maintaining engagement levels, and earning a class’ respect. You will become a clear, confident communicator, comfortable speaking to trainees one-on-one and to larger groups. You’ll learn how to structure information and optimise presentations for maximum teaching success.
Learn the history of the bartender and how these craftsmen have been developing the profession over the years. Understanding the role of the bartender and its evolution gives you a feeling of self-assurance and helps pass on passion and respect for the career.
An EBS Instructor must have extensive knowledge of cocktails and ingredients. You’ll get to work on all the classics in depth so you’re ready for any question that students might throw at you. Here are a few families you’ll break down: Sours, Fizz, Tiki, and Flips.
Prohibition altered society’s position on alcohol and we still feel its impact today. Trace the evolution of the industry before, during, and after this regulated time - what slipped through the net and what didn’t. Get familiar with the cocktails of ‘The Golden Age’ and their creators.
You’ll compete in a cocktail competition to learn what it takes to pair ingredients under pressure and use storytelling techniques to create an engaging universe around a signature drink. This is great preparation not only for judging the competitors during the International Bartender Course but also if you chose to enter an official external event.
Ice is an important, often-overlooked part of bartending. You will learn how to explain the difference between certain types and shapes of ice and supervise the carving of cubes, spheres, and sculptures.
You will learn the Hard Work, Spirit & Soul way. These are the words on everyone’s lips - from interns to instructors. It’s your role to impress these values of passion, optimism, and commitment onto your students and continue building a world-leading bartending community.
